Request

Request Received: 14 January 2021

It was announced earlier this week that Kromek Ltd Co Durham UK has recently received 1.25m funding from UKRI for development of an automated detection system for airborne coronavirus.

I cannot find details of this on your web-based spreadsheet.

Could you please tell me the date on which the application was granted and when it was awarded.

Response

Response Sent: 25 February 2021

Under the Innovate UK funding process applicants are notified on a particular date whether their application has been successful or unsuccessful in competition, and applications are not granted nor awarded.

Information about the funding competition, UKRI Ideas to address COVID-19: Innovate UK Article 25 Aug 2020, including the competition dates, is publicly available at the following link: https://apply-for-innovation-funding.service.gov.uk/competition/692/overview#dates.

The notification date for the competition was 21 October 2020. As this information is in the public domain, we consider that Section 21 - Information already reasonably accessible, of the FOIA would apply and have provided the relevant link above.

Section 21 is an absolute exemption which means that there is no requirement to conduct a public interest test.
