Data on PhD studentship ethnicity is collected by research organisations and reported to UKRI. The data that is reported does not include a specific category that records whether an individual considers themselves to be of Gypsy, Roma or Traveller status.

We would expect individuals who identify with these groups to select one of the available ‘Other’ categories when recording ethnicity, however, there is no way to distinguish these groups from other individuals who may also choose these ethnicity options.
