Thank you for your request, made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Because it concerns environmental information, we have considered it under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004. Your request was for:

BGS to confirm the complete list of any wind power or other renewable energy groups or individuals or any other entities that have sponsored or funded or inputted to the ‘Goldilocks zones: geological super regions’ paper in any way including any monetary or other benefit that the BGS has or will receive.

The British Geological Survey (BGS) can confirm that no third parties, including wind power or other renewable energy groups or individuals have sponsored, funded or inputted to the work. All work has been funded by BGS with all information coming from BGS data, or publicly available sources. BGS are working with the Environment Agency to consider the potential environmental and social impacts of the roll out of energy transition technologies. The work will build on the findings in the paper and will be released later as an open access report. Each organisation will fund their own contribution and BGS will not receive any monetary or other benefit, other than external knowledge sharing and demonstration of expertise and capability from the work.
