    RE: Innovate UK Smart Grants: January 2020 (Deadline 28 May 2020). (Applicants were notified of their outcomes on 07 August 2020).

    I would be very grateful if you could please provide the below information on the above funding competition for both:

    Stream 1 projects (6-18 months duration, eligible project costs between £25-£500k), and;

    Stream 2 projects (19-36 months duration, total eligible project costs between £25K-£2M).

    The information I would like to request is as follows:

    1. The total number of applications submitted and the number of those that were assessed (i.e. deemed eligible for funding)

    2. The overall number of applications awarded funding and a breakdown of how many of these were first-time applications and how many were resubmissions

    3. The total number of applications within each innovation area and the number of those that were successful in each area

    4. The average grant request and project size of the applications successfully awarded funding

    5. The average score of successful applications

    6. The percentages of successful applications that were Industrial Research and Experimental Development

    7. The number of successful Industrial Research and Experimental Development projects that were; (i) Single applicant/partner, (ii) 2 partner, (iii) 3+ partners

    8. The total funding allocated in this competition round.

    Finally, please can you advise on the budget / how much funding will be allocated for the upcoming Smart competition that will open on 28th August 2020.

    RE: Number of internal meetings between 01 08 2020 and 21 12 2020 regarding funding extensions for UKRI post graduate researchers, together with dates, minutes, and number of written communications.

    I would like to make an FOI request regarding communication and joint working between UKRI and the Office for Students ('OfS'), in relation to funding extensions for postgraduate researchers. I would like the information provided in electronic format.

    Please could you provide the following information:

    1) The number of internal UKRI meetings held between 1 August 2020 and 21 December discussing funding extensions for UKRI-funded PGRs, and the dates of those meetings;

    2) The minutes of the meetings described in 1);

    3) The number of written communications (electronic or physical) between UKRI and OfS between 1 August 2020 and 21 December 2020 that contains mentions of any of the following phrases:

    • Current spend for both of the above software?

    • Whether the organisation uses any 3rd party contractors to assist with this?
