  1. Request Received: 8 March 2022

Could you provide me with the names and percentage of UK universities with established centres for Research in the Humanities (e.g. TORCH, University of Oxford)?

Could you provide me with details of funding awarded to TORCH (University of Oxford) by the UKRI or related bodies in the following years:

    2019 - 2020

    2020 - 2021

    2021 - 2022

    2022 - 2023

Could you provide me with information on the funding outcome to TORCH (university of Oxford)? E.g. Abandoned projects, successful projects, profits made or losses incurred (if available)?

Finally, I would appreciate any information that supports continued funding for research centres and information that opposes such support.

    Clarification received 15 March 2022

Please could you clarify what information you are seeking from UKRI as it is not clear what you mean by 'information that supports continued funding for research centres and information that opposes such support'.

If possible, I would like to know if there have been studies or surveys or any type of quantitative research that promotes the importance of UKRI funding. I am not a researcher, so please bear with my crude example: In 2019, 70% of projects that received UKRI funding were completed.

Question 4 is the only one I would like to be solved. Your answer to the first three questions sufficed."

  2. Request Received: 2 February 2022

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please provide me with full answers to the following questions:

    1. How many people, including full-time, part-time and temporary employees, are currently recorded as being based at your main office, either by having a desk or a security pass or any other metric that you use?

    2. Of these, how many were recorded as having entered the building on the following days:

    a. Monday 6th September 2021

    b. Monday 13th December 2021

    c. Monday 24th January 2022

I am sure that these numbers will be available either by checking how many door security cards were activated on the days in question, however it is also likely that your HR department would, for health and safety reasons, be keeping a tally of how many staff were visiting the office.

  6. Request Received: 23 March 2022

I am trying to gain further understanding of the support of Innovate UK by sector in the UK specifically, for competitions which are "Open" - i.e. the present iteration of SMART. Therefore, I am requesting under the Freedom of Information act the following:

    1) For the 2 most recent SMART ROUNDS (Innovate UK Smart Grants: October 2021 ID:1035; Innovate UK Smart Grants: August 2021 ID:963), split by upper (projects >19 months <£2M) and lower stream (projects <18 months <£500K) where possible, a breakdown of total number of applications and successful applications by "Innovation Area" - as selected at point of submission (under Applications details)

    2) If possible a count of "active" reviewers for each of the listed innovation areas.

    3) If (1) is not possible (for example it would take it over the time limit as you would have to log into each application to extract the "innovation area") please can I request instead a list of all Lead Organizations which have applied to each round, split by stream.

    4) If (3) is not possible a breakdown of total number of applications and successful applications by company SIC code (as available from Companies House).

Please refer to the following news item, a helpful briefing note, published by UKRI:

    https://www.ukri.org/news/ukri-update-on-researchfish/

There is an aspect of this matter which is not covered therein, namely how it came about that your organisation decided to link up with Researchfish and Interfolio.

I should be grateful if you would supply me history of this relationship starting with the original genesis of the arrangement - presumably a thread of internal emails and notes of discussions - and continuing to the present time or at least up to the time the relationship became the subject of public comment/controversy.

    Please could you provide:

    1. The emails/minutes/other data held in which "UKRI and ResearchFish staff discussed sharing abusive, threatening or offensive tweets so that UKRI could suggest the senders reconsider their language", which were from 2018

    2. The emails sent from Researchfish to UKRI (or which UKRI were copied in) in these six identified incidents, along with any responses UKRI sent back to Researchfish
